Hello Team,
I would like to suggest adding two optional features to the Leave Management system in HR.my to provide more flexibility and better control over employee leave policies:
Emergency Leave Maximum Limit
When Emergency Leave is enabled, it would be very useful to have an option to define a maximum number of Emergency Leave days allowed per employee.
Negative Leave Balance Limit
When the “Allow Negative Leave Balance” option is enabled, it would also be helpful to define a maximum negative balance limit (for example: -3 days, -5 days, etc.) instead of allowing unlimited negative balance.
These enhancements would help companies apply more accurate leave policies according to their internal regulations and reduce manual monitoring.
Thank you for your great platform and continuous improvements.
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion.
Your suggestions may sound logical, but I need practical use cases to support it. May I know what situations in your company that require such features?
Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
Here is a practical use case from my company and local work environment:
For Emergency Leave, our local labor law allows only 7 days per year to be used as emergency leave within the annual leave balance, and this should apply only to a limited part of the leave entitlement, not to all annual leave days.
For Negative Leave Balance, our internal company policy, which is similar to many private-sector companies, does not allow employees to use an unlimited future balance. Instead, we need a controlled maximum negative limit, so employees cannot consume more leave than they should in advance. This helps prevent excessive leave usage and protects workflow continuity.
That is why having a configurable maximum limit for both Emergency Leave and Negative Leave Balance would be very useful in real business scenarios.
Thank you.
Unfortunately, without a maximum limit for Emergency Leave, some employees may start using sudden leave requests too frequently even when there is no genuine emergency. This can negatively affect attendance discipline and create workflow disruptions, especially in operational and project-based environments where team availability is critical.
I really don’t understand this:
Your employees do not need approval for leaves?
Yes, all leave requests still require approval normally.
However, having these limits in the system would support the approver by providing an additional control layer, especially in cases where the approver may not immediately notice the total number of Emergency Leave requests already used by the employee throughout the year.
In our local work environment, employees are also familiar with the labor law regulations, so they usually expect the system itself to reflect these allowed limits clearly and automatically according to the legal framework.
This feature would therefore help both management and employees follow the policy more consistently and reduce unintentional misuse of Emergency Leave.
May I know which country do you come from?
