Hi, I just found out one of our staff EPF calculation is not accurate.
Refering to the photo attached, the income to calculate staff EPF should be 396.67-56.67= 340.00.
But the system refer to EPF table (340.01 to 360.00) which the EPF figure became ER 47.00 EE 40.00.
You help will be appreciated.
Good day, today I have tried out different calculation combination hope that will help you sort out the problem easier.
Example 1: Basic 340; result EPF correct
Example 2: Basic 400 & UPL 60; result EPF correct
Example 3: Basic 401 & UPL 61; result EPF correct
Problem start from the figure involved decimal(s):
Example 4: **gross income RM340 or RM360 for EPF
xxx.10 & xxx.60; EPF wrong
0.20/0.30/0.40/0.50/0.70/0.80/0.90; EPF correct
Example 5: **gross income RM340 or RM360 for EPF:
test xxx.90~xxx.99; when result .91/.92/.97/.98; EPF wrong
test xxx.60~xxx.72; when result .60/.66/.67/.72; EPF wrong
Thanks.
That is most likely due to the actual amount exceeding the threshold. As stated here: Rounding Method Used for Payroll Calculation
The figure that you see on payslip is already rounded off.
Good day, thanks for your reply and look into my query.
But I dont agreed it is a rounding problem, because all the figure that resulted to “wrong EPF” calculation is not involved more than 2 decimals.
For example:
- 400.91 (Basic) - 60.91 (UPL) lead to wrong EPF 47(ER); 40(EE)
- 400.97 (Basic) - 60.97 (UPL) lead to wrong EPF 47(ER); 40(EE)
Both net salary are also RM340.00, and only involved 2 demicals in all figure and calculation, but EPF goes wrong to next category which for 340.01~360.00.
BUT sample like 400.94 (Basic) - 60.94 (UPL) lead to correct EPF 45(ER); 38(EE)
Please review it again. Appreciated.
No, I mean, you need to use your calculator to calculate each individual items, and you will see that the actual amounts are not just 2 decimal places. When this sums up, they may be slightly more than the final figure.
Please refer to the full simple payslip that I made for sample.
Basic is net 400.91 (2 decimals), UPL is net 60.91 (2 decimals). There is no any other amount or no any other 3 decimals figure involved to calculate the income amount for EPF.
Therefore, 400.91-60.91 = 340.00, but the EPF still wrong.
May I please you to further explain where is the “ slightly more than the final figure” occured?
@kapchew Would like to follow up the problem (with explanation) mentioned above. Many thanks
