I can see that leaves can be applied for half days, but i have not been able to apply absent for half day. I have read the guide little bit but have not yet found it there.
So i just want to ask, can the system mark half day absent? If it can i think i can re-read the guide and find out HOW to do it.

Do you mean half day Unpaid Leave?
As per my knowledge there is a difference between “Absence” and “Unpaid Leave”. “Unpaid Leave” (some call it i think “No-Pay leave” also), is a leave that the company has authorized for the staff. But yes, there is no salary paid for these leaves. I have not tried but i think we can apply “Unpaid Leave” for half day, as we can apply other “leaves” for half day too.
On the other hand “Absence” is when a staff does not show up to work without any authorization from the company. I am talking about applying this “Absence” here. For eg. a staff may come to work in the morning but after the lunch break never came to work in the afternoon. So i want to mark the second half of the work day as “Absent” for the staff.
Please correct me if i am wrong in interpreting this two things.

Currently I would suggest that you use Incident to handle such AWOL cases. This is better than just marking it on a calendar, as this will be a performance record tagged to the employee.
I tried to apply the incident and there too i could not select “half day” absence. Anyways if I apply incident, will it also show in the attendance sheet? Because i would also like to see that absent marked in the attendance sheet as well.
No, incident is meant to help employers to keep proper records about an employee’s performance or disciplinary issue.
